The Mennonite Church USA conference is being hosted at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. 4,500 volunteers will be giving of their time in the afternoons from one o’clock to four o’clock to give back to the community of Columbus and surrounding areas. The planning for this event started back in February/March 2009.
On Wednesday July 1, 2009 the Olde Towne East Neighborhood Association had the pleasure of 26 young adults and chaperone’s in our area helping with neighborhood clean up, some graffiti paint over, painting of the Olde Towne garden shed, weeding and cleaning of the Olde Towne garden.
On Thursday July 2, 2009 OTENA will again be hosting 25-30 young adults and chaperone’s for community projects.
The Olde Towne East Neighborhood Association would like to express our gratitude to these young adults and chaperone’s for giving their time to our area. Thank you.
The mission of Mennonite Church USA , in providing these opportunities, is more than giving youth and adults a chance to merely work. Instead it is a chance to give back to the communities of the city that hosts their conference with a perspective of what service can look like on as basic level of connecting to communities within neighborhoods as close as next door.
