Dear Holiday Tour Patrons,

We regret to inform you that the association will need to cancel this year’s Holiday Tour of Homes which was to be held December 2010.

After consulting with Trustees and former tour committee chairs, the Trustees voted to cancel the tour because of the overwhelming
lack of interest among the general membership in organizing the tour.

Columbus City Schools and Columbus Public Health are teaming up to get the word out to parents regarding the new immunization requirements in Ohio for the upcoming school year and opportunities that they have to fulfill these requirements before students must be excluded from school on Sept. 15. Any assistance you can provide in getting the word out through your organizations would be appreciated.

The Long Street Tour’s “Bike the C-Bus” is a fun way to get fit and check out a few of the neighborhoods in and around Columbus. Experience segments of the King Lincoln District, Woodland Park, Olde Town East, Downtown, Short North Arts District, Italian Village, Harrison West, Victorian Village, Arena District, Franklinton, Brewery District and German Village.
The entire ride will cover approximately 30 miles over 4 segments and will feature stops that highlight change that is occurring in our neighborhoods. Each stop will be sponsored by businesses and community groups and provide snacks, drinks and entertainment for the riders. The ride is configured to allow cyclists to complete segments if they do not feel comfortable riding the entire route.
The registration fee for Bike the C-Bus is $25 per adult. One child age 6-12 is free with each paying adult. The registration fee includes child’s helmet if needed*, lunch at Hospitality Area and the Official 2010 Long Street Tour T-Shirt. Any additional child age 6-12 is $10. Children 5 and under are always free.
The 2009 Bike the C-Bus limited edition t-shirt is available in limited color and size combinations for $18. The shirts are available for pickup at Urban Spirit Coffee Shop located at 893 E. Long Street, Columbus, OH 43203 or at pre-registration or registration at the Lincoln Theatre.

The Olde Towne East Neighborhood Association General Membership meetings start at 7:00 pm every second Wednesday of the month located at 734 Oak Street, 2nd floor, OTENA meeting room.

This meeting we will have Commissioner Bryan J. Boatright of the Livingston Avenue Area Commission come to speak to the membership about the pending ballot initiative in November to allow City Council to hold “closed” meetings.

After Bryan’s presentation, Leslie Montgomery with ODOT, Randy Kill from Burgess and Nibleand Chris Hermann of MSI Urban Plannerswill be on hand to discuss specifically the options available on the Parsons/Elijah Pierce and Parsons/Town/Bryden intersections. Their presentation will focus on these  intersections ONLY, so be prepared with your appropriate questions and concerns.

OTENA Trustees sincerely thank the home tour co-chairs,  Ann Twiggs, Tawana Owens, the homeowners and HUNDREDS of volunteers for hosting one of the best tours in OTENA’s history!  The tour’s route showcased some of the best in Olde Towne East, and tour goers commented easily on the unique architecture and decorative styles. ”What a great neighborhood to live in” was heard at the  registration desk when attendees made their first or last stop at Tifereth Israel.  Again, thanks to the co-chairs and their team of volunteers!
