1266 E.Broad St., Joseph Firestone house, built around 1900 and destroyed through neglect and ultimate demolition by the Columbus Foundation on May 6-7, 2008. While the Foundation purports to support preservation projects of historically significant properties, it allowed its own property to deteriorate to the point that they claimed it was structurally unstable, and proceeded with demolition despite neighborhood protests with media coverage. The Foundation claimed that the home stood in the way of its plan to enhance its educational center; however, it was replaced with a surface parking lot and green space.
